Liebe Lucía Callén Herrero, wie sieht jetzt Dein Tagesablauf aus?

Hi Lucía Callén Herrero, what`s your routine at the moment?

I’m currently in an artistic residency in Vienna for the presentation of an artistic-scientific performance about consciousness together with my partner Miriam Strasser. In the mornings, we dedicate ourselves to the creative process, rehearsing and testing to develop the choreography for the final performance, which will take place at the end of September at the Arche Theatre. In the afternoon, we dedicate our time to the dissemination and communication of the event. I also dedicate part of my time to business studies to develop my project: Synaptic Butoh, which combines butoh dance and neuroscience for stage creation, developing a business model that can be profitable in the long term in order to make a living from art.

Was ist jetzt für uns alle besonders wichtig?

What`s now particularly important for all of us?

To find new ways to communicate and relate to our environment and other living beings, so that we move away from the anthropological worldview.

Vor einem Aufbruch und Neubeginn werden wir jetzt alle gesellschaftlich und persönlich stehen. Was wird dabei wesentlich sein und welche Rolle kommt dabei dem Theater/Schauspiel, der Kunst an sich zu?

New start, new beginning. What will be essential and which roles will dance, art play on society process?

Broadening our vision. Develop sensitivity and enhance human creativity.

Was liest Du derzeit?

What are you reading currently?

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage from Haruki Murakami

Welches Zitat, welchen Textimpuls möchtest Du uns mitgeben?

Which quote, text will you propose to us?

“ … through dance: we must depict the human posture in crisis … „

“Butoh…plays with perspective. If we, humans, learn to see things from the perspective of an animal, an insect, or even inanimate objects, the road trodden everyday is alive…we should value everything.” – Tatsumi Hijikata¹

Zur Person: PhD in Neuroscience, University of Barcelona (2012),teacher, actress-performer, playwright and stage creator, specialist in Physical Theater, graduated from the Nouveu Colombier Mime School (2018) and the International Theater School of Arturo Bernal (2019); and in Butoh Dance, trained at the JINEN Butoh School of Atustushi
Takenouchi (2019) and member of the international butoh company The Phyisical Poets directed by Mushimaru Fujieda. She has developed several projects as social communicator from the Community Radios of the Community of Madrid (URCM) and as Director of Communication of the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC).

Since 2018, she directs La Sombras & Company, a company that uses butoh dance together with physical theater, poetic voice, new technologies and science for multidisciplinary scenic creation in collaboration with other international artists and scientists, for a broader understanding of our nature. She develops a unique
language, the poetry of the flesh, delving into the movement of the unconscious world through the awakening of sensoriality for the construction of a symbolic narrative. She uses the movement of the poetic imaginary in the bodies to take the public to a dreamlike state. She has performed in several festivals in between Europe and Asia (Spain, Italy, Austria, South Korea and Japan). She is part of international collective creation groups for the development of creative communities in nature: Space for nature, a multidisciplinary art platform for the research of human-nature interaction; Cadáver Exquisito, butoh collective to share methodologies and develop festivals and meetings in the national territory (Suite de Butoh); collaborates with the Italian theater company The Rainbow Theatre directed by
Leonarda Saffi for the creation of a common creation methodology Cuerpo In Chaos Labs; She is an interactive performer in the artistic experiences developed by Nacho Arantegui from the project Trarután Art and Nature for the creation and integration of Art and Dance in Nature.

As a scientist and artist, her personal and professional goal is focused on finding common ground for the integration of art, science and nature, building bridges between butoh dance, theater and neurobiology, in a way that helps us to understand, with a multidisciplinary perspective, how the brain and the body work in relation to the mind, and to investigate in movement the mystery of life and existence. To this end, she is currently developing an interdisciplinary methodology of scenic creation for the awakening of the creative soul through the movement of mental images, and in a way that helps us to improve and expand our sensory and perceptual capacity of the sensitive world: Synaptic Butoh.
