Hi Jure Markota, what`s your routine at the moment?

At the moment I  wake up at 6:15 AM to the soft light of dawn and begin my usual morning routine, enjoying breakfast with my family before escorting the kids to school. Afterward, I savor a cup of coffee while outlining my daily plan. Following this, I take a peaceful walk through the forest with my dog, soaking in the serenity of nature. Upon returning, I settle into my studio, where I jot down thoughts in my daily diary and dive into my work with focus and determination.

The rest of the day is primarily devoted to spending quality time with my family. After completing my work tasks, I prioritize family activities, whether it’s helping the kids with homework, engaging in outdoor play and work.

Evenings are cherished moments filled with laughter, conversation, and bonding experiences. As the day winds down, I reflect on the joys and challenges of the day, grateful for the love and companionship that enriches my life.

What`s now particularly important for all of us?

Being aware of time is crucial for leading  our fulfilling lives. By embracing communication and working together, we can optimize for greater productivity and harmony. Prioritizing shared goals, fostering understanding, and supporting one another’s needs create a positive environment where everyone can thrive. With a collective focus on improvement and mutual respect, our time become a foundation for success and meaningful life.

New start, new beginning. What will be essential and which roles will art play on society?

Art plays a fundamental role in shaping the future of society in multiple ways. Art is like a mirror reflecting what’s important to us as humans. It helps us express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas in creative ways.

Art also helps us understand different cultures and perspectives, making us more empathetic and open-minded. It can even inspire us to make positive changes in our society, like protecting the environment or fighting for equality. As our world changes, art changes too, using new technologies and ideas to keep us thinking and dreaming. So, in the future, art will continue to be a powerful force for bringing people together, sparking imagination, and making our world a better place.

What are you reading currently?

There are more books at the moment that are on my daily menu… but maybe I will point out two of them.

„In Search of Lost Time“ (À la recherche du temps perdu) by Marcel Proust and „Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art“ by James Nestor.

Totally different but quite essential at the moment.

Which quote, text will you propose to us?

„Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius—and a lot of courage—to move in the opposite direction.“

Its from a book „Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered“ by E.F. Schumacher.  Is a seminal work that challenges conventional economic thinking and advocates for sustainable, human-centered approaches to development.

Jure Markota, artist

Zur Person _  Jure Markota 1985 in Slovenj Gradec geboren. Nach beendetem Gymnasium hat er sich in 2004 auf der Akademie der bildenden Künste und Design in Ljubljana eingeschrieben, Richtung Bildhauerei. Während seines Studiums arbeitete er als Assistent mit vielen slowenischen Künstlern zusammen. Neben der Bildhauerei beschäftigt er sich auch mit Malerei, Grafikdesign, Architektur und neueren Medien. Er nahm an zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungen, Symposien und Wettbewerben teil.

My artistic work can be wieved as ˝Paradigma of data processing˝ or its visualization. Therefor it is entirely irrelevant who makes the process or visualization physically. Namely my intervention is on the side of the bare choice of composition, data fragments, their translation in a visual or artistic medium. The works are a mixture of particularities from my everyday life, which are not necessarily linked to my professional work but they do effect it because people normally respond to expectations concerning the status of everyday
people. The artwork is short, a hybrid situation – can be quite banal or personal, reflection on the time and position in world which I am mounted directly.

Meine künstlerische Arbeit kann in den künstlerischen Ansatz des “Paradigmas der Datenverarbeitung” oder ihrer Visualisierung gestellt werden. Dafür ist es völlig irrelevant, wer den Prozess oder die Visualisierung körperlich macht. Das heißt, meine Intervention ist auf der Seite der bloßen Kompositionsauswahl, Datenfragmente, ihre Übersetzung in einem visuellen oder künstlerischen Medium. Die Werke sind eine Mischung aus der Besonderheit des Alltags, die nicht unbedingt mit meiner beruflichen Arbeit verbunden
sind, sie aber beeinflussen. Das Kunstwerk ist kurz, eine hybride Situation – kann ganz banal oder persönlich sein, Reflexion über die Zeit und Position in der Welt, die ich direkt montiere
